Self-POD Comparisons

I would be interested in opinions on this rather detailed comparison of many of the third-party self-POD companies.

I think it is a valuable service, well worth referencing. In fact, I'm adding the link to my blog right now. Thanks for the tip!

It's a great start, but some of the keywords need explanation (2+2=5) -- maybe I didn't dig around the site enough to find those, though.

There's a lot of potential in that resource. Thanks for sharing!

Somebody has to rain on this parade, so it may as well be me. You could call me an anti-corporate iUniverse fan. I found this lady's site several years ago, and you will see that the iU info is still not accurate. Of course I recommend that any POD novice check out all the websites of the POD publishers, but please do not take the info in this chart at face value. For example, this chart does not show you how far ahead in development and professionalism iU is, compared to most of those listed on the chart. The chart doesn't show you that only a sucker actually pays list price, because iU runs specials constantly! The chart doesn't show you the real cost of using Lulu, either. Pardon me for slinging the mud, but I recommend that any prospective author should use the chart only to link to the companies' sites, and as a quick reference.

Perculair thing. I joined the forum at this site yesterday, and confirmed my membership via email.

Today the account is completely deleted--even when I tried re-suing my confirming email or requesting a new password. Over-active spam control? Something else?

The chart is out of date, or not properly researched. Lulu offers a black & white 6 x 9 hardcover, and also a couple sizes in paperback for color interior books, that are eligible for their distribution package. The page has copyright dates of 2001-2005, so I would suggest doing independent research, although it does offer a nice overall look at many PODs.
