Yup, that's the sort of stuff I am talking about and the sort of work I am usually immediately drawn to.

Funny thing: I am the ferret lady. For something like twenty years now. I was interviewed for two different ferret magazines some time ago.

Odd huh?Cheryl Anne Gardnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12564041914501542048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20796627.post-19817494448778441662009-07-09T13:59:17.738-05:002009-07-09T13:59:17.738-05:00Thanks very much Brent. My perception has definately been altered by my reading material. I tend to lean towards the subtle too -- the shadow, if you will. Huge Carl Jung fan, can't help myself.

I review a lot of story collections for the site, and most of them deal with an alternative view of one sort or another.

Don't forget to query us if your book is an Indie release. I suggest as well that the understory you're talking about need not always be "dark" but may simply be "alternate" ...a different, deeper take on reality. And in my opinion, the subtler it's woven in, the better. At least that what I tried to do with my story collection, The Principle of Ultimate Indivisibility (launching any day now). I'm enjoying your Thoughts On The Craft very much!Brent Robisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06882060411376854563noreply@blogger.com
