While 'A Man and His Maniac: The Bunkie Story' has gotten favorable reviews, they haven’t persuaded me to buy this book. I don’t have any pets, so this subject matter just doesn’t appeal to me. Since the download was free and the story is short, I decided to check it out.

I found Mr. Emery’s writing style easy to read, and his passion for the subject of the book contagious. The only hiccup in the flow was the part about the worms. That really grossed me out. I had no illusion of making it to the end of this book once I started, but as the end was drawing near, I was determined not to cry. I returned to my computer after drying my eyes and blowing my nose to read Bunkie’s Opus. Nice touch.

As I was reading this story, I kept thinking of a co-worker/friend who is one of the most enthusiastic and compassionate animal/pet/non-human-children guardians that I know. Since she doesn’t read books from the internet, I purchased a copy of 'A Man and His Maniac: The Bunkie Story' for her. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

Good job Mr. Emery!
